Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) is a welcoming and professional Further Education (FE) college in North Hampshire. BCoT has recently (Feb 2023) been recognised as a 'Good' college, with Outstanding features. The college continues to build on that grading to ensure that it becomes an Outstanding provider overall. The college is currently looking to recruit a temporary Construction Technician to work alongside an enthusiastic group of colleagues in our Construction Crafts team.

Our intention is to ensure that first-class industry standard workshop facilities are provided for our learners, in all aspects, including standards of maintenance, cleanliness and tidiness. Standards of behaviour within the workshop are also expected, as is the adherence to Health and Safety best practice.

The technician role has a number of responsibilities, but first and foremost, it is to provide support for teaching staff and preparing materials for staff in advance of set work. A full list of the responsibilities can be found in the Person Specification.

The ideal candidate would hold a First Aid qualification or be prepared to undertake First Aid training.

The ideal candidate would also have a minimum Level 2 qualification in a Construction related field, but this is not essential.

The position requires some heavy lifting and other manual tasks. A good range of mobility is also required to be able to assist teaching staff in practical, workshop sessions.

We have some amazing benefits on offer:
  • Membership of People's Pension Scheme
  • Retail Benefits scheme
  • Free onsite parking
  • Free Annual Flu Jab
  • Annual Well-being Day
  • Free onsite Gym
  • BCoT Nursery, Restaurant and Hair & Beauty discounts
  • Starbucks onsite!
Applications will be considered upon receipt so please do not delay in submitting your application today!

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the College is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

BCoT is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome enquiries from everyone and value diversity in our workforce

The college is rated Good by Ofsted, with outstanding features, has continued to improve since its last inspection and has maintained outstanding financial health for many years.
