Teaching Support Officer - Dog Grooming (Technician) (Casual)

Job Title: Teaching Support Officer

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £11.72 - £11.82 per hour (plus holiday pay entitlement)

Hours: Ad hoc/ casual

As a Teaching Support Officer in Dog Grooming you will play a vital role to ensure the smooth operational running of our K9 Dog Grooming parlour at the Cambridge Campus.  This is a varied role with a focus on working with our students in the parlour and beyond ensuring that stock and equipment are maintained, as well as providing practical support to learners.

Our salons are open to the public Monday- Friday allowing our students to get the best hands-on experience, so that they leave with industry ready skills and experience.  We have invested heavily into both salons to ensure that our students and customers receive the best grooming experience.

Your experience and qualifications in dog grooming is far more important than experience in a classroom environment. CWA is proud of its track record of supporting our staff to achieve qualifications with many of our current lecturers being appointed in support staff roles.

A full Level 3 dog grooming qualification is essential, and you must either have qualifications in Health and Safety or be willing to obtain. You must have a Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE A*-C/9-4) or equivalent or be willing to obtain.

We are a successful, community-focused FE College based in the East of England. We have a thriving dog grooming team and in recent years, the department has grown from strength to strength.  We offer an incredible training package and a chance to work within tight knit and supportive teams.

We offer an excellent package including a generous annual leave allowance of 30 days per year for support staff, plus five College closure days, plus Bank Holidays (pro-rata for part-time), fee waivers on some College courses, a contributory pension scheme with the Local Government Pension Scheme, discounts with local businesses and access to a cycle to work scheme.  CWA focusses on staff well-being and utilises both internal and external resources, such as a well-being committee and access to a free and confidential Employee Assistance Programme as well as comprehensive training and development.
