Animal Care Technician (Teaching Support Officer) 12 Month FTC

Job Title:                  Animal Care Technician (Teaching Support Officer) 

Contract Length:    Up to 12 months

Location:                 Cambridge

Working Hours:      37 per week, 40 weeks per year (term-time plus 4 weeks)

Salary:                      £20,785 - £20970 per annum (£22,551 - £22,751  FTE)

Start Date:               September 2024

CWA have an incredible opportunity to join our team at our Cambridge campus for an Animal Care Technician  on a term-time (plus 4 weeks) basis (part-time or job share considered) on a temporary basis, for up to 12 months. 

Our specialist companion animal care centre is home to over 200 animals ranging from livestock, exotics and companion animals which includes birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals.  The role of Animal Care Technician is to work on a daily basis with the animals completing all husbandry needs and ensuring high standards of animal welfare, with part of the role supporting learners in practical sessions.

Our animal care courses ensure that our students leave us with the scientific, practical and administrative skills they need for their careers in animal care.  This campus is really all about the animals and has a real community feel to it. We are passionate about our animals and the education and training we provide to our students- the next generation of animal care specialists.

You will support a range of classes and courses within the Faculty and Programme Area. You must have a Level 2 qualification in Animal Care or in a related subject and have relevant industry experience. You must hold a Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE A*-C/9-4) or equivalent or be willing to obtain within 18 months of employment.

We are a successful, community-focused FE College based in the East of England. We have a thriving Landbased team and in recent years, the department has grown from strength to strength.  We offer an incredible training package and a chance to work within tight knit and supportive teams.
