Creative Arts Lecturer

Location: HMP Belmarsh, Western Way, Thamesmead, London. SE28 0EB
Hours: 29.5 hours a week. We welcome applications from those seeking flexible hours.
Salary: Approx £25,930 Pro Rata (FTE £33,000)
Apprenticeships: Development opportunities are available through Apprenticeship standards

MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a Lecturer in the Creative Arts to join the Education Team based at HMP Belmarsh to deliver classes to a diverse group of learners. The ideal candidate will be able to offer classes in art and at least one other creative expression, e.g. music, dance, drama etc. (N.B. This is a role in a Category A prison and there are restrictions on some materials and activities.)

This is an opportunity to work with diverse groups of learners in a well-run and safe prison and have a lasting positive impact on their educational experience. The average class consist of eight learners and the sessions are approximately three hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative. The experience/ability to deliver opportunities to engage with a range of cultures that reflect the diverse prison population would be a strength in any application. As a successful inspirer of creativity, you will deliver exciting and engaging classes where learners can develop not only their creative skills, but confidence and personal progress, that they can apply to other areas of education.
