Role: Student Services Coordinator

Location: Corby Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary between £24,000 (pro rata) DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Peoples pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 20 hrs per week (0.5 FTE)

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Senior Student Services Coordinator to join The Bedford College group at our Student Services Department.

As a Student Services Coordinator you play an important role in the success of our students through:
  • To work with the Student Services Manager to ensure effective delivery of careers information, advice and guidance to Bedford College Group Students and potential students
  • To work closely with the Student Services Manager in the design and delivery of a cross-college Careers programme for students
  • To lead and implement the bursary process, to assess any applications for financial support and provide advice and guidance to students in need
  • To provide a personal service, offering support or referral for pastoral, health/welfare and financial matters.
About you:
  • Good all round level of education to include Maths and English to GCSE (Grade A - C) or equivalent level (level 2)
  • Level 3 qualification (e.g. 'A' Levels or equivalent)
  • High level of computer literacy skills
  • Level 6 Qualification in Careers Guidance or willingness to work towards
  • Successful experience of working with adults and young people, both 1:1 and in groups
  • Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Evidence of understanding how to promote equality and diversity within the job role
  • Experience of organising events and activities
  • Experience of providing information, advice and guidance on learning and work
  • Experience of working effectively in a customer focussed environment
  • Experience of project work and meeting deadlines
  • Proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to demonstrate excellent organisation and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
  • Ability consistently to create a welcoming and supportive environment for students and/or customers
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently face to face, on the telephone and in writing
