About Us: At South Essex College are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that empowers all students, especially those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our Supported Internship programme is designed to help students with SEND gain the skills and experience needed to secure sustainable employment. We believe that with the right support, every student can achieve their full potential. The Role: We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Job Coach to support young people with learning difficulties and disabilities as they pursue their employment ambitions. In this role, you will work closely with students, local employers, and the teaching team to develop and implement supported internships and work experience placements tailored to the individual needs of each student. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and Implement Job Coaching Strategies: Work with students to create personalised job coaching plans that align with their strengths, interests, and career goals. • Employer Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create meaningful supported internships and work experience opportunities. • Individual Support: Provide flexible, tailored support to students with a range of abilities and needs, ensuring they can successfully progress into and sustain employment. • Collaboration: Work closely with the teaching team and employers to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting students in their work placements. • Assessment and Guidance: Assess students' needs and provide guidance to help them overcome professional challenges, develop their strengths, and achieve their employment goals. • Daily Task Support: Assist students with their everyday work activities and help them adapt to new tasks in their placements. What We Are Looking For: Essential: • Experience working with students with SEND, particularly those with learning difficulties and disabilities. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, employers, and colleagues. • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with SEND in achieving their employment goals. • Effective time management skills and a creative approach to problem-solving. •good level of administration skills'. • Ability to work autonomously while also collaborating with a team. • A valid driving license is required for this role. Desirable: • Experience in job coaching or a similar role within a further education setting. • Familiarity with assistive technology and other resources that support students with SEND in the workplace. • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010 and the SEND Code of Practice.
