Teacher - Performing Arts - Dance (Part Time)

About the Role

Leeds City College are recruiting for a Performing Arts Teacher to join our experienced and passionate team based at Quarry Hill Campus. We are looking for committed, creative and innovative individuals who are excited by the possibilities that working in our team will offer. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and communities.

Whilst we welcome applications from any performing arts discipline, our dance courses will be the key focus of this role.

This role is part time, 29.6 hours per week.

The department of Music and Performance Production has more than 500 learners, predominantly 16-18 years old, studying Musical Theatre, Music Production, Dance, Music, Theatre Design and Production, and Acting.

The state of the art campus opened in September 2019, and is home to fantastic facilities including the 180 seat Chroma-Q theatre; 5 dance studios; 2 recording studios; TV production facilities; screening room; practice rooms; and Theatre Design workshops.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare for and deliver classes to student groups, with clear intentions and well-defined outcomes.
  • Deliver taught classes in our well equipped studios and other external venues
  • Manage student progress and achievement through the modules you deliver.
  • Evaluate students' work and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Take part in activities relating to recruitment of students (open evenings, interviews etc)
  • Be an active member of staff teams, contributing to curriculum development, course reviews and School of Creative Arts activities.
  • Participate in personal development, working to develop your own professional knowledge and skill set.
About You
  • Degree in relevant Performing Arts subject
  • Industry experience of working in theatre would be an advantage
  • A creative, enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking practitioner.
  • The ideal candidate will work well as part of a team and be resilient, adaptable and enthusiastic with experience of the theatre industries.
  • You are student focussed, building a supportive and creative environment for students to develop their practical skills.
  • We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills and would be happy working with people as well as being able to work independently when required.
