Payroll Manager

The South Thames Colleges Group are now looking for a Payroll Manager to support the operational management and delivery of the payroll services for the Group. You'll ensure that each stage of the payroll is appropriately administered, and that accurate and timely payroll transactions are processed for staff. Working alongside the Financial Controller and payroll team, you'll develop payroll and system reporting capacity in response to the needs identified by each organisation.

Allocating work to Payroll Officers and utilising the Cascade HR system, you will monitor the interface between the HR and Payroll systems to ensure that data entered by HR is correctly and appropriately integrated and processed. You will liaise with colleagues in the HR team to ensure the accurate flow of information in respect of staff changes, including new starters and leavers, and carry out the monthly salary reconciliation process, ensuring the required payments are made to HMRC, the pension providers and other statutory bodies and organisations.

Do you have a Foundation Degree in Payroll Management or an equivalent level Payroll qualification? Do you have previous Payroll experience at a supervisory level? If so, we would be delighted to hear from you!

We're looking for an individual who has excellent numerical and analytical skills and who can use IT at an advanced level. This should include experience of utilising computer systems to develop reports and enhance the provision of management information. With highly developed written and verbal communication skills, you will have the ability to work well as part of a team and with a wide range of staff at all levels within the organisation, maintaining effective relationships with external contacts. We need you to have knowledge of payroll and pensions regulations, processes and procedures and have experience in maintaining computerised payroll and human resources records.

Experience of processing payroll for organisations in the education sector is desirable.

This post may involve travel between Kingston, Carshalton, Merton and South Thames Colleges. This post will dictate a combination of homeworking and onsite attendance. Onsite attendance will predominantly be at Merton College.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 27th August 2024.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 37 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees' physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.
