Instructor Technician in Animal Care Brinsbury

We have an exciting opportunity for an Instructor Technician within our Animal Care department to work at our stunning Brinsbury countryside campus, located near Pulborough in West Sussex. This is a great opportunity to work hands on with a variety of animal species on our beautiful Brinsbury College campus. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £23,151 per annum.

The Instructor Technician in Animal Care role:

You will primarily assist with the instruction and assessment of students working within the Animal Centre.

As our Instructor Technician in Animal Care, you will be committed to student experience and upholding the high quality of provision in the Animal Centre. You will be required to plan, instruct and supervise students during practical sessions delivered on the Animal Centre. You will also assist with completing assessments associated to student qualifications.

Key Responsibilities of our Instructor Technician in Animal Care:

  • Undertaking administration related to course requirements and provide reports and statistics as required.
  • Participating in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
  • Liasing with Additional Support in specific cases to ensure students get appropriate support.
  • Participating in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, reviews, meetings and promotional activities, as required.
  • Organising daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation and maintainance of resources, services and housekeeping.
  • Providing assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.
  • Implementing and maintain the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation, including the reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.
  • Participating in course review activities and the generation and implementation of new resources and action plans.
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment and prepare replacement plans.

Our ideal Instructor Technician in Animal Care should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 2 Qualification in the relevant subject area
  • Level 2 in literacy and numeracy, or willingness to work towards
  • Level 3 Qualification in the relevant subject area
  • Relevant industrial/subject experience
  • Following/applying Health and Safety procedures
  • Maintaining relevant equipment
  • Ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels
  • Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
