Technician (Small Mammals)

Technician (Small Mammals)
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
£23,630 - £25,656 per annum

Due to internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen to join the Easton College Animal Management Centre as a Technician (Small Mammals). This role will provide specialist support for our Small Mammals section, as well as general support across the centre. This role provides practical learning opportunities for students, including demonstrating skills to groups of students and supervising students as they practice skills. In addition, duties will include supporting with animal husbandry, record keeping, and health monitoring, ensuring animals are cared for to the highest welfare and industry standards.

The successful candidate will need to be a genuine team worker and communicate effectively, working in a flexible and busy environment. They will need to have relevant practical experience, working with a range of animals, specifically small mammals including hamsters, rats, rabbits and guinea pigs. A working understanding of training and enclosure design would be advantageous. There is scope to increase the small mammal's section to include exotic mammals, so experience working with a range of mammal species would be useful.

Working experience in a zoo or farm park environment with relevant mammal species is crucial to the role.

This role will be required to work weekends, bank holidays and during college holidays, including some out of hours responsibility.

Here at the College we have the highest expectations of our staff and students alike, all who follow the colleges 'Ways of Working'.

If the above appeals to you and we sound like a College that you would like to work in, we would really like to hear from you.
