Over the last 50 years, Capel Manor College has helped thousands of school leavers and adults achieve their dream of working with animals, plants and the environment. As London's environmental college, the College plays a vital role in the green agenda for the capital, equipping the next generation of land-based sector workers with the skills and knowledge needed to preserve and protect London's wildlife, national parks and green spaces.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Capel Manor College and we are now seeking to appoint an Animal Keeper to join our animal management team.

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day routine care of the College's animal stock including cleaning out of accommodation, provision of feed, water, bedding, nesting material, and daily health checks. The successful candidate will be an expert in their area and implement the highest industry standards of animal husbandry and welfare. They will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading the animal facilities and record keeping for their area of responsibility. They will also deliver interactive enclosure encounters and experiences to visitors. In addition, our Animal Keepers will be supporting the Practical Instructors and Lecturers, ensuring relevant resources (such as animals and equipment) are readily available for learning.

The ideal candidate will hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in an animal care discipline and have some experience working with a range of animal species. They will have excellent communication and organisation skills. They will be able to demonstrate awareness of Health and Safety issues and will have a strong commitment to the care and welfare of the College's animals.

Please note that there is some weekend and bank holiday working required with this role.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work in a supportive, collaborative and beautiful land-based environment.

In order to be considered for the position, an application form must be completed. CVs will not be accepted. For further details and to apply, please visit the job vacancies section on the Capel Manor College website.
