SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

• Adapt teaching style with regards to students' individual needs.
• Prepare learning materials for lesson plans.
• Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Work alongside the classroom teacher to ensure a smooth-running learning environment.
• Work with relevant professionals such as speech and language therapists
• Liaise with parents, carers, and guardians to ensure the best care of pupils.
• Build strong and professional relationships with both students and colleagues.

SEN Teaching Assistant qualifications/experience

• Experience in supporting students with additional needs including ADHD, Autism, and challenging behaviour (preferred but not essential)
• Familiarity in supporting young people on the autism spectrum (preferred but not essential)
• Knowledge of special education practices and strategies (preferred but not essential)
• Have substantial experience either the Further Education and Training sector or the Secondary Education sector (preferred but not essential)
• Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant and satisfactory references (preferred but not essential)
• Hold GCSEs in both Maths and English, at grade A-C or equivalent
• A valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
• Proven experience of maintaining quality rapport with students, staff and parents/carers
