Role: Associate Lecturer in Computing

Location: Central Bedfordshire College - Dunstable Campus

Salary/Benefits: Rate of £21.50 DOE and Qualifications

Hours/Weeks: AL to cover 3 days of teaching per week - Subject to Discussion at Interview.

About the role:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Associate Lecturer in Computing to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students enrolled in BTEC Level 2 to Level 4 HTQ Computing courses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in Computing for BTEC Level 2 to Level 4 students.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the Computing curriculum to ensure it remains relevant and up to date.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and departmental activities.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Computing to incorporate into teaching practices.
About you:

Essential:
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Degree in Computing or a closely related field.
  • Formal teaching experience, preferably within a FE environment covering BTEC Level 2 to Level 4 in Computing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with advancements in the field of Computing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Good level of information, communication and technology skills particularly in relation to standard packages and virtual learning environments such as Teams, Office 365.
  • Willingness to engage within a Teams learning environment with elements of both in-person teaching and online materials.
  • A commitment to working with diversity and an ability to relate well to students, including adult learners.
Desirable:
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment design.
  • Familiarity with virtual learning environments (VLEs) and e-learning tools.
  • Industry experience in Computing or a related area.
