A college in Worcester is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing the College's Independent Study programme and providing one-to-one support to students. This temporary position is set to last until at least the October half term, with the possibility of extension until the end of 2024.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Provide support and guidance to students' independent study and progression through the supervision and delivery of Impact sessions.
  • Assist groups and individual students in overcoming barriers to learning, developing good study habits and routines, and accessing learning resources.
  • Prepare materials and activities for student use in collaboration with the Support Team.
  • Monitor and review individual student targets closely with the Support Team.
  • Undertake administrative duties, including taking registers, sending absence notes, and updating the Learning Support Manager on concerns.
  • Act as a scribe, reader, or exam invigilator during exam series, staying with students until the end of exams.
  • Contribute to student reports, ensuring accurate completion of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and half-term reviews.
  • Work with the careers department to support students with their ambitions and progression.
  • Attend team meetings and meetings outside of the department when requested.
  • Undertake duties within the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) as directed by the Learning Support Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified to Level 3 (A Level or Equivalent).
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting students with specific learning difficulties, e.g., dyslexia or dyspraxia.
  • Physical ability to assist with personal care.
  • Commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young persons, and vulnerable adults.
  • Awareness of and adherence to College policies, including Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity.
