Counselling Tutor (Variable Hours)

About the Role

RHACC currently has exciting opportunities for qualified and experienced counselling tutors. As a variable hours tutor, you will be part of an experienced teaching team that plan, deliver and assess on our range of counselling and mental wellbeing courses. These courses range from beginners’ Introduction classes through to our two-year, Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling Diploma.

Working closely with the Programme Manager for Counselling, you will be assigned to a suitable course/s for which you will plan and deliver high quality learning programmes that meet the needs of all learners. 

You will be responsible for the management of coursework and ePortfolios via an [online] learning platform. You will complete standard quality assurance tasks related to course planning and management, learner attendance and punctuality, learner progression, assessment and evaluation. You will be required to attend regular 1:1 and team meetings. You may also assist with learner recruitment processes. 

About You

Applicants for this post, must meet the following criteria:

Teaching Qualification

  • You will hold a minimum Level 4, Teaching Qualification (Level 5 desirable) or be willing to work towards gaining a Level 5 teaching qualification.

Counselling Qualification 

  • You must hold a therapeutic counselling qualification (450 hours) at Level 4 (or above). 

Minimum Practice Experience 

  • For Level 2 courses: 20 hours annual CPD; 1 year experience of using counselling skills in a workplace setting; experience of teaching and assessing at Level 2 
  • For Level 3 courses: you will have 6 months experience of teaching and assessing at Level 2. 10 hours personal therapy and be a member of a professional association for counselling and psychotherapy. Current supervised counselling practice and a supervision qualification or experience of supervising groups or individuals in a counselling setting. You must undertake 30 hours related CPD. 
  • ​For Level 4 courses: you will have a minimum of two years’ experience of teaching and assessing at level 3 and 4 (or above); you will be a current practitioner with two years’ supervised counselling practice or a minimum 450 counselling hours; hold a supervision qualification or have 1 year experience of providing supervision to groups or individuals in a counselling setting
  • 10 hours of personal therapy 
  • A Member of a professional association for counselling or psychotherapy
  • 30 hours per year CPD activities

Candidates will be offered ongoing continual professional development as per BACP requirements.
