About The Role and Person

Capel Manor College is looking to appoint an experienced curriculum leader to manage the delivery of its Horticultural programmes based across its Enfield, Mottingham, Regent's Park and Gunnersbury Park campuses. The post holder will work with the Director of Green Skills to lead, manage and develop a high quality and cost effective curriculum area, which progresses towards and achieves the College's strategic and operational objectives in the curriculum area. They will develop and implement quality improvement intervention strategies to create a rich and stretching experience for Horticulture students, leading to improvements in recruitment, retention, achievement and progression. They will lead, motivate and develop a team of staff to maximise their potential and to ensure that their skills and abilities are deployed to achieve positive outcomes. They will will also be responsible for undertaking operational management decision making for the School. The post holder will also also develop and maintain records for the area, including student attendance, retention and achievement records and information and data relating to College quality standards.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced curriculum manager with demonstrable success working in a management role within the education sector. They should have proven record of raising and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning and securing quality improvements. They should have experience of motivating and leading a team to achieve desired outcomes and have experience of Further Education Curriculum delivery planning and administration. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Horticulturalist with a working knowledge of the Horticulture curriculum and strong links with industry. They will be well organised, have excellent administrative skills and the ability to problem solve and work using their own initiative to make decisions within agreed strategic guidelines.

Working in collaboration with the Head Gardener and gardens team, the Head of School for Horticulture is a key role, ensuring the student development of industry standard skills and preparing students for careers within the sector. The College is unique with the extensive gardens supporting effective and innovative curriculum delivery, whilst fulfilling their role as a major visitor attraction in the local area.

Capel Manor has some of the best facilities of any College in the country to support those seeking to be the leading practitioners in greenspace management and gardens design, and between them, our campuses boast over 30 acres of gardens. Our Horticulture students achieve great things and recent achievements include picking up Gold at the prestigious BBC Gardeners' World Spring Fair earlier this year for the creation of an environmentally conscious garden.
This is a cross College role with some travel to other sites required.
