Finance Assistant

Riverside College is looking for someone to support the College’s finance team in ensuring the efficient and accurate implementation and recording of all college finance transactions.  To ensure all transactions occur in line with the college’s financial regulations and ensure value for money is obtained at all times.

Finance Duties

  • To input sales invoices/credit notes, purchase invoices/credit notes and purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner
  • Supplier statement reconciliation.
  • To maintain accurate records and files of all relevant documentation
  • To prepare appropriate reports as required
  • To respond to day-to-day queries from staff, students and suppliers in line with agreed policies and protocols
  • To advise staff on the college’s financial regulations to ensure all requirements are met.
  • To support the College achieving value for money at all times
  • To undertake cross checks across the department to ensure accuracy of processing.
  • To raise any issues or concerns with the Deputy Head of Department or Team Leader
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

Personal Development

  • To undertake staff development and attend staff meetings as required and requested.
  • Continuous professional development will be available, but not mandatory.

Additional Duties

  • To respond flexibly to the varied requirements of a fast changing environment.
  • To perform a range of general administrative duties as required.
  • To undertake such cross-college responsibilities as may from time to time be ascribed to the post.
  • To actively participate in college enrolment, recruitment and activities.
  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults at the college.
  • To accept flexible redeployment and reallocation of duties commensurate with the level of the post.

Finance Assistant

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification to minimum of Level 3 (A Level or equivalent) or suitably qualified by experience.
  • Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy

Knowledge/Experience

  • Experience of effective team working and promoting effective relationships between staff, students and the community
  • Experience of working within a finance environment would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Knowledge of equality and diversity issues

  • Display initiative, be positive and friendly.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and able to communicate with a wide range of different people.
  • Ability to accurately identify customer needs and respond appropriately.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Participation may be required outside normal working hours including evenings and weekends.
