Mentor - PDBA (Reduced Year)

About the Role

This is a reduced-year role: 39 weeks per year.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual in the role of PDBA Mentor to work with selected students within the department. The team are responsible for monitoring attendance, supporting student development, and motivating learners to achieve to ensure every learner is successful and overcomes barriers to learning.

Study Programmes at Keighley College is responsible for supporting the personal development of students alongside developing behaviours and attitudes within education and for future employment / life opportunities.

What You Will Do
  • Monitor and track learner attendance, identifying barriers to learning and supporting interventions for learner progress.
  • Carry out interventions, setting targets for students to achieve.
  • Work with teaching staff to support the achievement of excellent outcomes for each student.
  • Support vocational departments with learners identified as "At Risk" of leaving their study programme and achieving their potential.
  • Give extra encouragement, coaching and pastoral support to all students inside and outside the classroom.
About You
  • We are looking for a friendly and approachable team player with experience of working in further education supporting young people particularly those from a disengaged / disadvantaged background.
  • You will be familiar with multi agency working across teams and departments (internal and external) to best support young people.
  • You will have knowledge and understanding of barriers to learning and strategies to overcome these.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team based environment.
