They seek a caretaker to oversee security and maintenance, including handyperson tasks, while inspiring the community by upholding the school s vision and values. They ensure students safety in accordance with safeguarding policies.

About the Role:

As a Caretaker, you will perform various duties to ensure the security, maintenance, and cleanliness of the school premises, including handyperson tasks and supervising cleaning staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the welfare of children and young people; serve as a keyholder responsible for the security of the premises, including locking, unlocking, and responding to alarms.
  • Identify and report building issues, perform minor repairs, and oversee maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in obtaining quotes, supervise contractors for quality and safety, and manage deliveries and storage of supplies.
  • Monitor cleaning staff and uphold cleanliness standards in all areas, including outdoor spaces, cloakrooms, and toilets.
  • Operate heating, ventilation, and lighting systems efficiently, conduct daily site inspections.
  • Manage the school minibus, including cleaning and maintenance, and assist with the upkeep of school grounds.
  • Prioritise maintenance tasks, safeguarding, health and safety, including First Aid.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a School Caretaker or in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to implement them.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and problem-solving attitude.
  • A valid driving licence.
