MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a creative Functional Skills Maths Tutor to join the team based at HMP Isle of Wight.

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will be actively engaging prison-based students in Functional Skills Maths – with creative classes and resources. Many of the students have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will have often had a negative experience with education. As a successful Tutor for Functional Skills Maths, you will truly inspire them and provide students with a positive learning experience.

You will be connecting with students in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to achieve success through not only qualifications, but developing the confidence and softer skills that they can apply to employment as well as other areas of education.

We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with students to inspire and motivate them. The
average class consists of 8-9 students, supported by a student mentor. The sessions are approximately 3 hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative. You will support students with progressing towards achieving a Functional Skills exam through City and Guilds.

If you are as passionate as we are about reducing re-offending and ensuring learners have a positive learning experience, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!

MK College will treat all applicants fairly and with respect, irrespective of their background, disability, or any other individual characteristic. We particularly encourage applications from people with backgrounds which are currently under-represented within Milton Keynes College.
