About the Role

This is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) who is looking for the next step in their career. This is an ideal role for those who have the attributes and skills needed to strengthen the existing arrangements for supporting children and young people who are vulnerable to exploitation, and contextual risks and have experienced trauma.

As the Senior Safeguarding Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. You will work closely with the Head of Student Wellbeing and Engagement overseeing the safeguarding team and wider rota, providing guidance, support and supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Supervision: The Senior Safeguarding Lead will deputise for the Head of Student Wellbeing and Engagement, overseeing the safeguarding team and wider rota, providing guidance, support and supervision. Acting as the Domestic Abuse and Prevent Lead for the College
  • Workload Management: The role will assist in workload allocation, prioritisation, and planning, ensuring efficient case management and accurate recording
  • First Response Function: The Senior Safeguarding Lead will act as the initial point of contact for safeguarding referrals, providing immediate support and guidance.
  • External Liaison: The role will represent the College at external safeguarding meetings and liaise with schools and other agencies
  • Capacity Building: The Senior Safeguarding Lead will contribute to the training and development of the safeguarding team, enhancing their skills knowledge and confidence

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience/relevant qualifications
  • Safeguarding related qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Mental Health and or Suicide Training
  • Prevent trained

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a safeguarding role
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practices
  • The assessment process for providing early help and intervention
  • Working collaboratively in a multi-agency discipline to provide support pathways and representation on key agency meetings and reviews
  • Providing debriefing to colleagues and case management

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion.
  • Ability to build rapport and support resolution through a trauma informed lens
  • Ability work independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
