School Chef

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated School Chef to join a supportive school in the Southam area. This role involves a variety of kitchen and food service duties, contributing to the smooth operation of the school kitchen and dining areas. You will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, and supporting students with their meal choices.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Washing up manually and using a dishwasher
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, fridges, sinks, ovens, floors, and walls
  • Setting up and cleaning the dining area, including plates, cutlery, and furniture
  • Assisting with food preparation, including chopping fruits and vegetables, making salads, and preparing drinks
  • Serving food while encouraging and guiding pupils in making healthy choices
  • Receiving and putting away food deliveries, keeping records, and handling sales via a cashless fingerprint system

Required Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A willingness to work as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills to relate to colleagues, students, and parents
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions, measure ingredients, and perform simple arithmetic
  • An understanding of food hygiene regulations (training will be provided)
  • A commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people
  • Experience working with SEND pupils (preferred but not required)
