Role: Art Technician

Location: Bedford College - Cauldwell Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary from £22,072 (pro rata) DOE and Qualifications, 27 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, Peoples pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

About the role:

The Bedford College Group are currently seeking an Art Technician to join our Arts Department at the Bedford College - Cauldwell Campus.

As an Art Technician, you will play a key role in the success of our students through:
  • Providing technical support in the field of Fashion & Textile and digital applications, for students and staff in areas of Art and Design
  • Liaising with Head and teaching staff for day-to-day operational duties
  • Undertaking general duties in art and design curriculum areas
About you:

Ideal candidates will have:
  • Have a level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of PC computers and associated equipment related to art and design practice • Experience in using equipment/processes/software in a based digital workshop [including Adobe and Microsoft]
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and safe working practices
  • Some experience in garment construction, specialising in sewing techniques, pattern cutting and fabric manipulation techniques/sampling. A good understanding of the production process in fashion and textiles.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective IT skills
  • Self-motivated and can demonstrate having worked with a minimum of supervision
