Salary: £41,541.00 FTE (+£4,000 Curriculum Manager allowance)

Job Type: 35 Hours per week, 52 Weeks per year, Full-Time, Permanent

Teaching Hours: 220 per academic year, 850 full time equivalent

About The Role:

A Curriculum Manager in Construction oversees the development and management of our Construction curriculum areas which include Carpentry & Joinery, Plastering, Multi trades, Brick work and Painting & Decorating. Within these areas you will be required to manage a suite of qualifications ranging from level 1 -level 3 Diplomas for Full time and part time students and level 2 Apprenticeship standards in Bricklaying, plastering, property Maintenance, Site Carpentry and L3 Craft Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship standard.  You will be required to lead on achieving excellence within the curriculum teams, raising professional standards and conduct.

The Curriculum Manager will facilitate daily operations within the identified curriculum areas, line management of teams and to support the Assistant Principal and enable them to regain strategic responsibility and overall leadership of the North Harbour provision. You will be required to provide leadership for teaching staff to deliver high quality provision leading to a good student/apprentice experience whilst monitoring key performance indicators within the area, to ensure the correct intervention is implemented. You would work closely with the college to design and update curriculum content, ensuring it meets regulatory standards, industry requirements and educational objectives. This includes integrating current curriculum content, technologies and research into the curriculum. Additionally, you will collaborate with external partners such as local businesses and awarding bodies to stay abreast of industry trends and ensure courses are relevant to the destinations of our students.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of academic staff providing guidance, support and professional development opportunities to ensure effective teaching and student support, whilst also maintaining an active teaching role within the department
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that encourages innovation, creativity and continuous improvement in curriculum delivery and student engagement
  • Coordinate team efforts to develop and implement student support strategies such as tutoring programmes, academic advising and learning resources, to meet diverse student needs
  • Engage with student feedback mechanisms (surveys etc) to gather insights and data for continuous improvement of teaching practices, curriculum design and student support initiatives, while actively teaching and interacting with students
  • Collaborate with the college to ensure curriculum alignment with regulatory standards and industry requirements
  • Integrate current healthcare practices, technologies and research into the curriculum
  • Implement strategies to enhance teaching methods and student access
  • Manage resources effectively to support curriculum development and delivery
  • Maintain program accreditation and compliance with educational standards

The Candidate:

  • Relevant qualifications in Construction and experience of delivering Construction Courses and Apprenticeships.
  • Significant experience in curriculum development, quality improvement and management, in an educational setting
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills to lead curriculum development teams and manage resources effectively
  • Passion for education and a commitment to enhancing students learning and success.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking mindset to drive continuous improvement in curriculum design and implementation
  • Punctual and consistent
