We have an excellent opportunity for a School Caretaker to join an Outstanding school in St Albans, Hertfordshire. This is a post with a high degree of flexibility.

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Caretaker to manage the day-to-day maintenance and security of the school premises. As a caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

Carry out general maintenance tasks, including repairs, painting, and basic plumbing/electrical work.
Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the school premises, including classrooms, offices, and outdoor areas.
Conduct regular health and safety inspections to identify potential hazards or maintenance issues.
Monitor and maintain security systems, including alarms and CCTV.
Assist with the setup and take down of equipment for events or activities.
Liaise with external contractors for major repairs or maintenance projects.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a caretaking or maintenance role, preferably within an educational setting.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance work.
Strong organisational and time-management skills to prioritise tasks effectively.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive and flexible approach.
Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, students, and external contractors.
