The opportunity
We are looking for a Plumbing Lecturer to join our team of industry experts and specialists to pass on their skills to the next generation of skilled engineers. You will work as part of our established delivery team to cover all aspects of the Level 3 BSE T level and Level 2 Technical Qualifications in Plumbing and Heating.
Our new Lecturer will report directly to the Course Leader and work with up to 100 students across the provision, developing the plumbers of the future. You will ensure competency in a range of practical and theoretical activities, using industry standard materials and methods to complete projects relevant to traditional and modern-day situations. The theoretical delivery covers a wide range of subject specific areas including Health and Safety, hot and cold-water systems, central heating systems as well as some system design and planning units.
Barnsley college is a grade 1 provider of outstanding education and vocational courses, and this is an exciting time to join our growing construction department. The CUBE construction facility is based on Honeywell sports village and is a state-of-the-art facility with modern classrooms equipped with the latest technology. About you
If you are a qualified plumber with hands on work-based experience, this is an amazing opportunity to boost your skills, achieve additional qualifications and receive full support to move into teaching.
Industry expertise is essential, with a strong background in plumbing and up-to-date practical knowledge. Ideally, you will have experience in both domestic and commercial plumbing, covering topics like water systems, heating, ventilation and sanitation. The ability to relay the latest trends, tools, and regulations to ensure students are industry ready is key. You will need to be adaptable and comfortable with integrating technology into lessons, such as teaching plumbing software or demonstrating new tools and techniques.
We are looking for a Plumbing Lecturer with a strong focus on hands-on learning, practical skills development and a willingness to support and mentor students, recognising that they may come from diverse backgrounds. The ability to communicate clearly and explain technical concepts in a way that matches learners' varying levels of understanding is paramount. You should possess good Health and Safety Awareness in relation to safety practices, with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the plumbing industry, as we ensure that students understand the importance of safety in real-world environments.
