Practical Instructor in Horticulture

About The Role and Person

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Capel Manor College and we are now seeking to appoint a Practical Instructor in Horticulture to support the teaching staff and students across all courses within the College's specialist Horticulture programmes, including maintaining practical equipment and gardens/grounds.

O ur Practical Instructors are responsible for supporting teaching staff across our Horticulture Management courses by providing practical demonstration and technical instruction to students on Horticulture courses. Practical Instructors supervise small groups of students to develop their practical skills through demonstrating the appropriate skills, methods and techniques. This might include demonstrating tasks such as planting and pruning. They will ensure that students can demonstrate the skills and behaviours required for the successful completion of their qualification and possess the knowledge that underpins the practical instruction. They will also ensure that the health and safety of the student is maintained whilst undertaking practical sessions.

The ideal candidates will hold at least a Level 2 qualification in a horticultural qualifications and will have experience of working within the horticulture/landscaping industry. While experience working in education is not essential, applicants should have some experience training and instructing others to work with horticultural equipment in a practical setting.
