We are seeking a strong, experienced leader to join our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland. The role involves deploying and reviewing support for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), resulting in progression, retention and success, and attainment that is on par, or greater than, their Neuro-typical peers.

The ALS team promote progression and aspirations for all learners with SEND, including learners with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Learner progress sits at the heart of all decisions, as part of putting the learner first.

To ensure that we provide appropriate levels of support, the successful person must have a sound understanding of learning support, including the busy nature of the Further Education schedule for support. They will need to be pragmatic, able to handle a busy caseload, and ultimately be able to take responsibility for the support decisions on site whilst leading an operational team to achieve this.

The role will involve close relationships with parents; carers; and other stakeholders. Learning Support is a fast-paced environment, so the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, alongside a passion to remove barriers to learning, therefore meeting the needs of all stakeholders.

The successful applicant will be based at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, with some travel which is essential across The Cornwall College Group for: training; meetings; visits to external stakeholders as required.

The appropriate candidate should demonstrate their abilities and experience linked to the responsibilities of the role within their application statement, and will be expected to demonstrate their knowledge of the role at interview.
