Location:HMP Erlestoke, Erlestoke House, Erlestoke, Devizes, SN10 5TU
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (Fixed term until March 2025)

Salary: Up to £22,080 pro rata (Up to £36,800 FTE Per Annum) Subject to experience and qualification

HMP Erlestoke have an exciting opportunity for an English / Maths cover Lecturer to join the prison-based Education Team, delivering Functional Skills English and Maths from Entry Level to Level 2, Money Management, online short courses and development of in cell learning when required.

We are seeking a creative and inspiring Tutor who can deliver engaging classes to learners who are based within the prison. As an English and Maths Tutor, you will be supporting learners to achieve success and guiding them through the courses. You will not only help them to achieve qualifications, but also confidence and skills they can apply to employment upon release, or to other areas within education.

ABOUT HMP ERLESTOKE

HMP Erlestoke is a Category C prison, holding approximately 444 adult male sentenced offenders. The prison is built on the former grounds of Erlestoke Manor House and has expanded in both offender numbers and intervention programmes. HMP Erlestoke’s focus is firmly fixed on reducing reoffending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro social environment.

Courses at HMP Erlestoke include Maths, English, IT, Horticulture, Carpentry, Cleaning and Support Services, Hospitality, Creative Craft, Customer Service, Team Leading, Learning Support and much more.

The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 11.30am, 2.00pm – 4.30pm and on Fridays 8.30am – 11.30am.

Erlestoke staff and learners get involved with various projects each year. In 24/25 Erlestoke held an archaeological dig and a two week Arts festival “ Penned Up “ giving learners the opportunity to hear from authors refreshing attitudes ,thinking and developing a focus on reading.

Erlestoke issues an internal magazine highlighting various events, projects and support alongside articles, interviews and shared experiences as well as promoting well-being and education.
