Based at St Austell, we are looking for an experienced Lecturer and Course Manager, responsible for student tuition and managing the student learning experience from interview and induction through to formal education delivery, taking a lead role in course organisation and all related matters within Performing Arts & Dance.

Applicants must:
  • Have or be open to working towards a nationally approved Stage 3 teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent). New entrants to teaching will be required to start an initial Teacher Training course on appointment
  • Have appropriate academic, professional or vocational qualifications (it is recognised this will vary dependant on the nature of the education delivery required) including a BA Hons in Dance or Dance theatre
  • Have relevant and current experience in the Industry
  • Have successful teaching experience
This significant role will carry course management responsibilities as well as ensure the current outstanding levels of learning, teaching, assessment and internal verification are maintained throughout the year. The subject specialist teaching will include Dance skills and techniques including Contemporary techniques, Classical Ballet, Jazz and Commercial styles as well as Choreography and Devising.

Teaching and Assessment will be inclusive for all levels of learner and will explore working through the creative period, rehearsals and then performance opportunity. The post requires the applicant to lead on the course/curriculum management of the Altitude Dance Course which will require also the maintenance of learner achievement, the improvement of learner recruitment through Schools Tours and presentations and regular performances across the County throughout the year.

The quality of work produced by staff and learners in the Performing Arts at Cornwall College is of an exceptional standard with team members consistently graded as exceeding expectations in observation. The successful applicant would be expected to maintain these standards by ensuring brilliant learning, teaching and assessment and rigorous and consistent attention to detail in all aspects of their role. The successful applicant would also be expected to fulfil some weekend and evening work.
