About the role:

The post holder will work as a member of the Inclusive Learning Department, under the direction and guidance of the teachers, SENCO and therapists, they will implement and reinforce therapy programmes and strategies within the classroom setting, as well as provide both group and 1:1 work with specific students as identified by the teachers, SENCO and therapists.

Main Duties and Responsibilities :

Work with the Head of IL, SENCO, the Learning Support Manager and other support staff and use specialist knowledge or experience to develop individual provision plans to achieve independent learning and emotional well-being for identified learners

To provide learning support for the learner in class or withdrawal situations, either 1:1 or small groups

To work with teachers, managers (Hammersmith IL Head, Ealing/Southall IL Head, SENCO and Additional Learning Support Mainstream Head) and the learning support manager to complete support plans and other duties.

Identify, plan for and manage learner behaviours and communication needs competently.

To provide specialist support, training and expertise for key send specialisms.

To develop knowledge of the particular needs of the learner and seek advice from the Senior Learning Support Assistant, class teacher or other agency as required.

To attend to the health & safety and reporting procedures for safeguarding of learners at all times

To undertake continual professional development as required including a Level 3 qualification in Learning Disabilities or SEN and a minimum of Level 2 in Maths and English.

To aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide modified materials as required e.g. worksheets, games, visual prompt cards, assistive technology etc. as needed and advised by the Senior Learning Support Coordinator, teacher, Ed Psych, SALT or other agency as appropriate

Work with the Head of IL, SENCO, ALS the Learning Support Manager and other support staff and use specialist knowledge or experience to develop individual provision plans to achieve independent learning and emotional well-being for identified learners

Assist with the planning and delivery of learners' targets (or other learner-specific plans).

Attend to learners' personal care needs, including social, health, hygiene, first-aid administration, medication administration and welfare matters, as well as assisting to and from classes as necessary and monitoring during breaks where appropriate

To embed the support of the development of literacy/numeracy or English and maths skills in all classes

To support and implement travel assistance procedures, policies and duties

Monitor and evaluate learners' progress and maintain students' records with particular regard to learners with SEN

Assist learning support managers in liaising with parents, carers and professional staff (such as educational psychologists) in order to promote the learning objectives of each learner

Use initiative to develop and implement actions that will promote the integration of the learner with his/her peers

To provide positive reinforcements, praise and rewards as well as positive behaviour support in line with statutory guidance

Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with peers and support interaction between them, both in the classroom and around the college environment including accompanying learners on trips or travel training

Assisting learners during work experience opportunities both in and out of the college

To provide regular feedback to the class teacher, SENCO and relevant outside agencies about the learner's difficulties and progress
