We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled Art and Design Technician Instructor, who wants to work in a role where there is plenty of opportunities to apply their practical, organisational and communication skills. The Art and Design Technician Instructor will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Art and Design across our Level 1 to Foundation Diploma courses and will have a sound knowledge of traditional and non-traditional art and design disciplines. They will be confident in supporting and advising both teachers and students on the best approaches to use within their work, implementing industry standards wherever possible.

Being well-versed in the use of Adobe creative software, operating laser cutters and kilns, and confidence with a range of printmaking process would be highly desirable. In addition to this, they must be confident in delivering practical and technical workshops to groups of learners, as part of our Enrichment programme.

One of the key responsibilities within this post will be to lead on the design, build, and curation of our end of year exhibition. This is a demanding task that requires a good understanding of exhibition installation techniques, practical problem solving, time management, and commitment to reaching the highest standards of presentation possible.

Another key part of this role will be to ensure that the department is always well maintained and tidy, and that stock levels, equipment and facilities are carefully monitored and stored appropriately. A good awareness of Health & Safety is a must, particularly around risk assessment writing and safer working practices.

The postholder will also act as a first aider; previous experience is desirable, but training will also be available. Above all, we need someone committed to supporting our young people and helping us be an extraordinary curriculum area within the college, striving for excellence in everything we do.
