Job Overview

The After School Club Assistant will work closely with the After School Club Leader to deliver a variety of activities, including sports, arts & crafts, outdoor adventures, and baking. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that all children are actively engaged and having fun in a secure and welcoming environment. This part-time role is ideal for someone local who has a passion for working with children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Childcare & Engagement: Provide comprehensive care, ensuring that all children are engaged and enjoying the activities.
  • Behavioral Guidance: Encourage fair and caring behavior among the children, fostering a positive environment.
  • Activity Management: Plan and run a variety of activities, including arts & crafts, Lego, baking, and outdoor games.
  • Safety & Risk Assessment: Conduct ongoing risk assessments to maintain a safe environment, both indoors and outdoors.
  • First Aid & Emergency Response: Handle any first aid or emergency situations promptly and effectively.
  • Emotional Support: Assist children who may have difficulty settling in, providing them with the necessary support.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children or young people
  • Friendly, approachable, and able to build rapport with both children and parents
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Able to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate

Desirable:

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Childcare-related qualifications
