Role: Lecturer - Technical and Modern (Construction)

Location: Bedford College, Cauldwell Street

Salary/Benefits: Salary from £31,000 DOE and Qualifications, (trainee salary from £25,000 DOE and qualifications) 45 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, Teachers pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Technical and Modern Construction Lecturer to join The Bedford College Group at our Cauldwell Street Campus.

As a Technical and Modern Construction Lecturer you play an important role in the success of our students by preparing, delivering, assessing and verifying subject specialisms within the Technical and Professional courses from level 3 to HNC level, in line with College policies and procedure as directed by the Head of Department.

No Teaching Qualification? No problem, with significant industry or subject knowledge, as part ofyour employment with The Bedford College Group, we will enrol you on a teacher training qualification.

About you:

Ideal candidates will have:
  • Level 4 qualification in Construction Management/ Civil Engineering.
  • Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent
  • Safeguarding training
  • Equality and Diversity training
  • Knowledge of curriculum models
  • Industry/ trade experience
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software confidently
  • A willingness to undertake a PGCE/CertEd qualification offered by the college if not already attained.
  • Responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns
  • Willingness to work at all locations where Bedford College provides a service

Successful candidates who will be entering the education sector directly from a relevant industry role will be eligible for a payment of £5,000 from The Connolly Foundation (subject to the rules of the scheme). Candidates who do not hold a teaching qualification will be employed as Trainee Lecturers and will have different terms and conditions applicable than those outlined in this advert, alongside being enrolled on a PGCE qualification.
