If so, we invite you to join our dynamic team as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant.

About the role

Veritas Education are currently looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Preston supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing the needs of students and using your knowledge and specialist skills to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs,
  • Work with school staff to maintain good behaviour in class and during 1:1 sessions, and to monitor progress,
  • Quickly build strong working relationships with students, and act as a positive role model.

  • There is a strong focus on helping students manage their emotions and behaviour in order to prepare them for learning and the world after education,
  • The successful candidate will join a supportive team to work collaboratively and effectively to support students,
  • There are opportunities for the role to become permanent with the school after a qualifying period.
Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEMH Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Care deeply about students' wellbeing and personal development
  • Be motivated to make a positive difference in students' learning
  • Understand the needs of students disengaged with education, and be confident with de-escalation strategies

All pay rates that are offered will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. Our working opportunities include temporary positions, permanent contracts and ad-hoc supply.
