Staff Recruitment & Onboarding Manager

Here at South Thames College Group, we are now seeking a Staff Recruitment & Onboarding Manager - someone to contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and high-quality Recruitment and Onboarding service to managers and staff across the Group as well as prospective employees.

This is a brand new role to the Group and the successful candidate will provide invaluable advice and guidance to managers on all matters relating to the recruitment of permanent and temporary staff. With line management responsibility for our Human Resources Advisors (Staff Recruitment & Onboarding) and our Staff Recruitment Coordinator, you will be responsible for the timely and effective recruitment of both permanent and temporary staff with a focus on all onboarding, compliance and pre-employment.

You will manage and support our post offer onboarding process (to include pre-employment checks) and ensure the HR Advisors (Staff Recruitment & Onboarding) have a seamless process when it comes to onboarding any new starters. You will ensure that all entries onto the Cascade HR system relating to new employees' records are completed fully and accurately, by the agreed deadlines, whilst keeping abreast of changes in legislation, working practices and other external initiatives that may affect the Group. Reporting to the Head of HR (Staff Recruitment & Onboarding), you may also support the Head of HR (Innovation, Development & Compliance) and Head of HR (Operations) with the development of the Group's procedures and policies to reflect current legislation and best practice.

The Staff Recruitment & Onboarding Manager will also undertake project-based activities that are directly linked to the Group's Strategic Plan, Risk Register and HR Operational Plan.

We'd like our Staff Recruitment & Onboarding Manager to ideally hold a Level 5 CIPD qualification and have experience of supporting and managing recruitment campaigns within an in-house recruitment environment. You'll be comfortable coaching and advising managers on good practice recruitment and be able to compose and edit effective advertising copy. You will have a solid background in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures relating to recruitment and onboarding and will support job design and evaluation, managing a range of recruitment related projects and writing reports, analysing information and interrogating data.

It's also important that you can understand numerical information relating to staff and to calculate key statistics and salary costs. You will be able to attract, select and onboard candidates and work well with a wide range of staff at all levels within the organisation. Experience of recruitment and onboarding of candidates on both staff contracts and via a Managed Service Provision is desirable, as is experience of managing and administering an applicant tracking system and a temporary staff booking system.

This post will dictate a combination of homeworking and onsite attendance. Onsite attendance will predominantly be at Merton College, but may include travel to other STCG sites.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that is implemented in the new academic year.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is Sunday 1 September 2024.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 37 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees' physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.
