IN SHORT

Milton Keynes College have an opportunity for a passionate English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Lecturer who believes in the power of transforming lives through learning.

If you can effectively engage with learners and can demonstrate excellent classroom management skills, we would like you to be part our education team based at HMP Isle of Wight.

Working in a prison environment can be challenging but highly rewarding and varied. As an ESOL Lecturer, you will be delivering ESOL classes to diverse groups of learners based within the prison. The syllabus is based on criteria from the awarding body, Gateway, with learners undertaking exams in reading and writing, speaking and listening from entry level 1 up to entry level 3. The class is delivered in the main department alongside other classes.

Milton Keynes College is passionate about reducing re-offending by providing learners with qualifications and skills that they can apply to employment whilst in custody and upon release. We would like you to be part of the learner’s journey, offering your skills and knowledge to guide them throughout their courses.

If you are highly motivated with a can-do approach to education, this is a great opportunity for you!

MK College will treat all applicants fairly and with respect, irrespective of their background, disability, or any other individual characteristic. We particularly encourage applications from people with backgrounds which are currently under-represented within Milton Keynes College. All offers made to successful candidates are subject to satisfactory outcomes to a range of pre-employment checks including a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).
