Senior Sports Development Apprentice

You will be responsible for supporting the college's Sports Development Team in a wide variety of capacities. The post holder will be integral to supporting the commercial developments of the sports facilities, being a key contact for customers.

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work
  • To support in the planning, preparation and delivery of high quality coaching within the colleges BTC Active and School delivery sessions, creating projects to manage throughout the year.
  • To support the design, implementation and delivery of Bridgwater & Taunton sport and physical activity strategy.
  • To support BTC Activators and act as a mentor for other apprentices and student volunteers
  • Host, manage, deliver and support health & fitness / recreational sessions to the wider college
  • Build a culture of success, innovation and learning that support students development in both education and sport.
  • Liaise with academic staff on the progress of learners, supporting achievement of all individuals within the programme.
  • To support the Sports Development team in the organisation, delivery and promotion of other sporting opportunities, development days and other events such as charity and fundraising.
  • Implement and co-ordinate Team BTC Development days and Development Pathways to drive and support recruitment at the College for both FE and HE Sport.
  • To support the growth and development of college partnership clubs.
  • To work with the Sports Development Team to act as a College representative for local, regional and national networks including AoC Sport, SASP and other organisations/networks (e.g. ECFA).
  • Support the Sports Development Team in developing excellent partnerships within schools across the South-West, identifying and supporting the development of talented sports performers, providing a clear pathway for them to study at Bridgwater and Taunton College.
  • Oversee and co-ordinate bank staff hours with the Sports development manager to ensure facility opening hours are covered.
  • To undertake duties as required within the sports centre / fitness zone e.g. cleaning, maintenance, customer service etc
  • Sustain, Grow and develop new commercial customers for the sports facilities
  • Ensure payment is taken for bookings, via card payments, invoicing including the handling of cash for non-invoiced fees and answering the telephone.
  • Maintain equipment and keep administrative records including regularly performing risk assessments as appropriate.
  • To help sustain, grow and develop the college's commercial income via facility bookings out of hours.
  • To ensure all of the Sports Facilities (Including the Health & Fitness Zone) is cleaned and maintained to a high standard
  • To liaise with external companies regarding the maintenance of equipment within the Sports Centre & Fitness Zone.
  • Carry out other duties as set by the Sports Development Manager and commercial team.
  • Organise and run half term activity camps.
