We have an exciting opportunity at our Wythenshawe Campus to join our Student Support and Foundation Learning Department as a Pastoral Support Officer on a permanent, full time (35 hours per week) term time only basis.

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will support and develop the personal, social and health education of students in need of pastoral support. This includes responding to 'at risk' indicators and developing action plans and target setting, alongside utilising internal and external support agencies.

Promptly and proactively support the achievement of the programme of study by addressing the pastoral and welfare needs of students, including rapid intervention for disengaged students.

To prepare learners for employment and active citizenship within society beyond their time at The Manchester College.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Qualified to at least level 3 in Education, Social Care, Mentoring, Youth Work, Counselling or Advice & Guidance.
  • Evidence of effective use of ICT systems and programs.
  • Evidence of supporting learners in an educational setting, preferably FE / HE.
  • Evidence of working with 16+ students, including adults.
  • Evidence of experience in providing support for academic and personal, social and health development.
  • Experience of motivating and affective change e.g., targeted, and universal pastoral interventions or attendance improvements.
