About the role:

Join our team to provide crucial one-on-one support to students needing extra help. Ensure their safety and well-being inside and outside the college, promoting their academic success and attendance. Collaborate closely with the Deputy DSL and Safeguarding Officer, and engage with external agencies as necessary.

Main Duties:
  • Provide individual support to students, addressing issues affecting their studies.
  • Deliver workshops on mental health, exam stress, and healthy relationships.
  • Monitor student attendance and academic progress.
  • Promote students' rights, responsibilities, and British values.
  • Identify and address safeguarding concerns promptly.
  • Assist students in setting and achieving personal goals.
  • Refer students to external services and maintain professional relationships with these agencies.
  • Engage with students' parents/carers, addressing their concerns.
  • Provide cover in Student Support Centres and other student spaces as needed.
  • Support the Student Services Manager in maintaining partnerships to aid students.
  • Accurately record case notes on MyConcern.
General Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in the Student Services Team and attend meetings.
  • Engage in the Staff Appraisal Scheme and undertake necessary training.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes equality and diversity.
  • Comply with health & safety policies and the College Code of Conduct.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and meet occupational standards.
  • Keep updated with necessary skills and undertake other duties as required by management.
  • Ensure the safety of staff and learners according to College Safeguarding procedures.
