Associate Lecturer - ESOL

Bedford College are currently recruiting for a flexible hourly paid Lecturer (Teacher) of ESOL and Functional Skills at our Bedford College Campus.

Lecturers at Bedford College, play a pivotal role in the success of our students through:
  • Enrichment Activities: Engage learners in the wider community through extracurricular activities, teaching life skills, and character development.
  • Teaching Strategies: Use a range of teaching methods, materials, and ILT resources to encourage learners' skill development and understanding.
  • Assessment and Monitoring: Track student progress, participate in standards moderation, and report on student achievements.
  • Professional Knowledge: Understand curriculum development, learning theory, teaching approaches, and assessment methodologies.
  • Inclusive Learning: Consider cultural diversity, learners' entitlements, and individual needs while promoting effective learning.
Ideal Candidates will have;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Equality and Diversity
  • Demonstrable experience & success in teaching ESOL at a range of levels
  • Ability to teach across a range of ages (16-18 and adults) and educational backgrounds ranging from basic literacy to HE
  • Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate simply, clearly and with empathy with speakers of other languages
Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent in related subject area - ESOL/English Language
  • Teaching Qualification specific to ESOL (CELTA or Trinity)
  • Willing to work towards the DET (Diploma in Education & Training) or PGCE (Post-graduate Certificate in Education)

What is an Associate?
Associates work on a short term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.
