We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Learning Resource Centre Director to join our ambitious education provider. The role involves managing the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) across different sites across south east london. The successful candidate will ensure the LRC team provides a high-quality, professional service to all students and staff, fostering a productive learning environment.

  • Job Type: Full-time 36 hours per week
  • Salary £30,800 to £36,207 term time only
Day to Day of the role of an LRC Director :
  • Oversee the management and daily operations of the Library Services, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
  • Lead the sourcing and distribution of online resources, support staff in the development of interactive electronic resources, and promote skills in information handling and research techniques.
  • Ensure the LRCs meet the needs of students and staff and enhance the institution's teaching and learning strategy.
  • Supervise students in the LRC to ensure purposeful learning.
  • Manage LRC Coordinators/Study Assistants to deliver outstanding service and effective deployment.
  • Develop a communication strategy that promotes the use of the LRCs during term and holiday periods.
  • Inform staff and students about available digital resources and library services, including remote access.
  • Liaise with colleagues and external organisations to develop relevant network groups.
  • Manage student groups during timetabled LRC/Directed study classes, supporting out-of-class learning.
  • Manage the budget effectively, including preparation of bids for external funding.
  • Act as the institution's copyright officer and ensure compliance with licences.
  • Manage the LRC borrowing systems and maintain the condition, security, and safety of the LRC.
  • Promote and monitor equal opportunities and participate in staff training and development.
Required Skills & Qualifications for the Learning Resource Centre Director role:
  • Degree level education.
  • Relevant experience in a library or educational resource centre.
  • Outstanding IT skills and proficiency in various IT systems and packages.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the 16-19 curriculum and a commitment to supporting students' academic and social development.
