Here at South Thames Colleges Group, we are now seeking a Student Community Officer for Kingston College.

The Student Community Officer will have a pivotal role in providing a positive ethos within the College community. You will provide a welcoming, engaging on-site presence for students daily in communal areas, signposting to enrichment and other personal development opportunities to promote positive attitudes, inclusivity and behaviour. You will deliver both 1-1 and groupwork provision in relation to student attendance, behaviour, safety and relationship building. You will actively identify and monitor students 'at risk' around campus for early intervention. You will work closely with internal colleagues and external partners as a key contextual safeguarding link to contribute to the College campus safety agenda.

You will create and maintain up to date records and health and safety risk assessments in line with College policies.

To be successful in this role, candidates must have experience of working with young people and have an understanding of issues that may affect a students ability to attend College. With knowledge and experience of behaviour management techniques and interventions, you will have excellent listening skills and the ability to establish positive and effective relationships with young people whilst maintaining appropriate personal boundaries.

Knowledge and experience of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures is a must, as is the ability to maintain emotional resilience when working with challenging behaviours.

Please note that this post is funded for the 2024/25 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2024.

Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the successful candidate will be eligible for any subsequent increase in salary.
