MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a creative Peer Mentoring Tutor, to join the team based at HMP Fosse Way, Leicester.

As a Peer Mentoring Tutor, you will be actively engaging prison-based students with creative classes and resources delivering skills and accredited qualifications enabling them to operate as peer mentors and/or teaching assistants. Many of the students have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful Peer Mentoring & Teaching Assistant Tutor, you will truly inspire them and provide students with a positive learning experience.

This role may involve outreach work outside of the main classroom setting and also remote teaching digitally. You will be connecting with students in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to achieve success through not only qualifications, but developing the confidence and softer skills that they can apply to employment as well as other areas of education.

We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with students to inspire and motivate them. The
average class consists of 12 students, supported by a student mentor. The sessions are approximately 3 hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative.

ABOUT HMP FOSSE WAY

HMP Fosse Way is a brand new, purpose built Resettlement Prison based in the Glen Parva area of Leicester. The prison is operated by Serco with Milton Keynes College as their strategic education provider. We are recruiting for talented and creative professionals to join the new Education team based in the prison, with education being delivered Mon-Fri between 8:10-16:40.

Due to HMP Fosse Way being brand new, education staff benefit from working in a new prison with up to date facilities, new resources and equipment. You are able to access the prison gym free of charge, as well as free lunch being available to staff on site.
