Are you a Secondary Teaching Assistant or Behaviour Support Assistant looking for a new challenge in the Bolton area?

I am currently recruiting for a confident Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to start in September on a full time & long term basis at a small secondary school in the Bolton area for children with Social & Emotional needs (SEMH).

The role is offered initially on a temporary long term basis paying up to £95 per day but is expected to go permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

  • Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:30pm.
  • Long term and expected to go permanent for the right person.
  • SEMH Teaching Assistants will need to combine learning support with behaviour management. They will aid the class teacher in manging classroom behaviour so that teaching and learning progress can be made.
  • The role is varied as no two days are the same. They have shorter lessons and small groups. They use a varied curriculum utilising many vocational subjects to engage students in areas that they are most interested in.
  • Students will often need additional support to access the curriculum, and this requires a strong amount of patience and understanding.

The TA will:

  • Support young people with literacy and numeracy and general subject knowledge.
  • Manage social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, collaborative and positive working environment.
  • Support young people with mental health needs and anxiety.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team including other teaching assistants and teachers, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers and other members of the child's multidisciplinary team.

To join us and be successful in this Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant role in the Bolton area, you will need to:

  • Have a minimum of six weeks' experience of working with children aged 11 to 16 supported by references OR be a recent graduate with an interest in getting into teaching.
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Provide a CV with 10 years of employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
  • Bachelor's degree or teaching assistant qualifications
