We are currently seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer who will join an experienced and supportive team providing highly effective safeguarding and pastoral support which is central to our whole college safeguarding culture.  You will be motivated and confident in providing holistic support to ensure students are safe and their wellbeing is paramount, working collaboratively with wider curriculum, support teams and external agencies to deliver successful interventions.

As a practitioner you will be skilled at establishing and maintaining relationships, driven by our college values and will focus primarily on supporting our most vulnerable students. In this role you will make a significant difference by enabling students to make informed choices to keep themselves safe and excel in their learning and next steps.

Please be aware this post is based at our Nelson site however there may be requirement to travel across sites.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

The successful candidate will act as a point of contact and college representative in matters related to safeguarding and pastoral support. This includes:

  • Working directly with students in a supportive and holistic way, with communication being the key
  • Representing the College at external multi-agency safeguarding meetings.
  • Creating new collaborative links with support agencies to refer students to as appropriate.
  • Acting as one of the points of contacts for external agencies relating to safeguarding issues.
  • Playing a key role in working closely with college managers and staff to ensure student safeguarding needs are paramount, promoted throughout the organisation and maintain our whole college safeguarding culture.
  • Making referrals to external agencies including Police, Children’s Social Care, Adult Care Services, Housing and Mental Health Services as appropriate. 

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • A passion to support/keep learners safe and promote safeguarding culture.
  • A Level or equivalent
  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C or above
  • Successful experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults  
  • Experience of working in partnership with external agencies
