Status: Temporary (potential for permanent placement based on performance)Salary: circa. £40,221Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM (37 hours per week)Location: Middlesbrough - occasional travel to other academies, own transport is beneficialContract Type: Immediate start, full-time, all year-round

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of the Trust Business Leadership Team, supporting strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
  • Oversee central Trust functions to support operational efficiency across academies.
  • Ensure compliance with national regulations and academy protocols.
  • Develop and mentor office managers, administrators, premises staff, and apprentices.
  • Act as the financial approver for the Trust, adhering to the Financial Handbook and Scheme of Delegation.
  • Support Head Teachers in budget formulation and management aligned with improvement plans.
  • Maintain robust financial procedures and timely management of accounts.
  • Facilitate governance and compliance audits, ensuring operational practices meet quality standards.
  • Facilities Management.
  • Manage procurement processes including tenders and contracts.
  • Prepare and present reports for SLT and Trust Committee meetings.
  • Research and secure funding opportunities in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Uphold and promote Trust values internally and externally.
  • Ensure day-to-day duties align with Trust ethos and service level agreements.
  • Champion continuous improvement and optimise systems and processes.
  • Comply with safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR, and other relevant policies.
  • Foster equal opportunities and inclusive practices.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and goals of the Trust.
  • Build constructive relationships with external agencies and professionals.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, training, and professional development activities.
  • Respond flexibly to emergency situations, potentially working outside standard hours.
  • Undertake additional training as required.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant formal qualification (e.g., in accountancy, business or management) - Essential
  • Good standard of education, including English and Maths
  • School Business Management qualification - Desirable

Experience:

  • Experience in an education setting, at Senior Admin, Office, Business or Finance Management level
  • Track record working with school governors or boards
  • Experience in capacity building and change management
  • Financial management and budgetary experience
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Experience with senior leaders in a high-profile organisation
  • Human Resource Management experience - Desirable
  • Experience with MIS and finance systems (e.g., SIMS, IRIS) - Desirable
  • Experience in premises management and procurement - Desirable
