Job Title: Welfare / After School Club Teaching Assistant - Part Time

Location: Carnforth

Start Date: Week commencing Monday 2nd September 2024

Hours: Monday to Friday, 11.30am - 1pm, 3.15pm - 4.30pm

Position Overview:

Veritas Education are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a very supportive and hard-working primary school in Carnforth. This position is a part time, split shift position, ideally suitable for someone local to the Carnforth area. This long term role will be working over lunch time from 11.30am until 1pm and then from 3.15pm to 4.30pm. There will be on occasion additional hours during school times to cover absence, with a view for this role to evolve into potentially full time.

The school is looking for a proactive TA who who can adapt and confidently offer reliable support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to a pupils of all ages over lunchtime.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive safe environment for all pupils, including those with challenging behaviours.
  • Assist with colleagues to offer a fun, exciting and engaging environment during after school club
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills.

Requirements:

  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children or young people preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to implement effective strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviours.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of different SEN conditions and the impact they may have on learning and behaviour.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced classroom environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are essential
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and equality for all students.
