About the Role

This is a part-time role: 22.5 hours per week.

This is a fixed-term role until 1 August 2026.

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher in technical theatre to join our team.

This role is to deliver technical theatre modules (contemporary production practices in lighting, sound and video as well as H&S good practice) to students across a series of programmes, developing students' ability to prepare for and run the technical aspects of a production.

The growing Backstage Production team at Leeds City College and the University Centre Leeds deliver a series of qualifications for school leavers and mature students from BTEC to our new foundation degree in Production Arts. We deliver practical, creative programmes to prepare students to enter the backstage industries.

There is a strong focus on developing the learners' practical skills, their communication and employability skills helping them to grow as people to support their journey towards industry employment. All staff are involved in devising the curriculum in response to academic demands and industry needs, as well as delivering and assessing modules.

We work closely as a team, with a strong emphasis on mutual support. All staff are dedicated to the continuing evolution of the curriculum and have active personal practices to keep themselves up to date on developments in education and industry.
